“Quady North is the poster child for high value, brilliantly made and compelling wines…”

-Paul Gregutt, Paul Gregutt’s Wine Guide

Our Wines

We are an Applegate Valley estate vineyard and winery inspired by the styles and traditions of the Rhône and Loire Valleys, making our wines from varieties such as Syrah, Viognier, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Marsanne, Roussanne, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Keeping with tradition, we also create blends of those varieties, including our signature Rose’ of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre (GSM), our red GSM, our white Rhône blend, and the "La Battalla” Loire red blend.

The historic Layne Vineyard inspires another set of wines, all tributes to the original 1973 planting. This lineup includes a Brut Sparkling, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To learn more about the Layne story, and these wines, click here.

We welcome visits to our tasting room. Located on the Estate, the tasting room features a casual, wine-centric experience with small bites and fantastic views.

In all, we make over thirty wines, including sparkling, specialty, dessert, and single vineyard wines. Visit our webstore to find out more.

GSM

Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre (GSM). This wine works because the bright fruit of Grenache offsets the herbal/gamey notes of Mourvedre, while Syrah holds the blend together. Consistently plush and balanced, it's an excellent food pairing wine.

“Yummy…very dark and savory on the nose, but very fresh on the palate.” - Courtney Hermiston, James Suckling.

ROSE’ GSM

This is perhaps the wine for which we are most known - our signature GSM blend made as a delicate pressing of the red varieties. We remain, as always, vociferously “Pro-Rose’.” Fruit for this wine is grown on cooler sites in the Applegate that were planted especially for Rose'.

Rose’ is my favorite choice for afternoon sipping, or as a pairing with casual fare.

“Herb Quady…is America’s Rose’ specialist.” -International Wine Review

PISTOLETA

Our signature white blend is made as a blend of Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc. It's a distinctive Oregon take on an old-world tradition, featuring a unique freshness that features notes of citrus and stone fruit.

Pistoleta is a great choice with flavorful, spicy dishes, including Thai or Mexcian cuisine. Also available in a 3L bag in box format.

“One of my favorite white wines from Southern Oregon.” Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast.

BOMBA

This wine is meant to highlight the naturally fruit forward characteristics of Grenache. Grown on the Estate, we make this in a style that amplifies the bright and soft cherry notes of the variety.

We love to serve Bomba chilled, and find that it is a perfect choice for weeknight pizzas and pastas.

“Clean, fresh and lively, it lingers through a pleasantly lingering finish.” - Paul Gregutt

LA BATTALLA

France’s Loire Valley is known for Cabernet Franc, but most of its red wines are blends of Franc, Malbec and Gamay Noir. This wine is made in that tradition, co-fermented using native yeast and partial whole clusters.

The name “La Battalla” is Spanish, meaning “The Battle.” In a wine world dominated by single varieties, where “Cabernet” always means “Sauvignon,” it’s a battle to gain recognition for wines like these. However, it remains a battle worth fighting.

“There's balance here between restrained alcohol, fruit, acidity and tannins. This is a Cabernet Franc to write home about.” -Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast.

SYRAH 4-2,A

This is the standard of Southern Oregon Syrahs. Rich, round, with a distinctive roasty note. It combines a select number of sites in the Rogue and Applegate Valleys. The name “4-2,A” was coined by our daughter Margaux, when she was very young. When engaged in fruit juice blending trials, she called her favorite the “fortooay,” ostensibly a derivative of “Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet.” She graciously allowed us to use the name to refer to our own blend, of Syrah lots. She also recommended we use a dragon for the label icon.

“A potent blackberry scent is almost matched, sniff for sniff, by a savory aroma that will have you looking for the meat that's sizzling on a nearby grill.” - Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast.

50 years of hustle

Beginning in 1975, we established our family winery with grit, hustle, and a little luck. In 2026, we celebrate over 50 years in the business, and 20 years in Oregon by continuing the family tradition of working hard and making great wine. I’m working up this page now, and will post it as soon as its finished.
