Winemaker Notes:
We reserve the Arsenal label for our best blended wine of the vintage. In 2006, we created a happy marriage between the adjacent Applegate and Rogue Appelations by blending Cabernet Sauvignon from the Applegate with Cabernet Franc from the Rogue. The Rogue Valley, with its warm nights and high potassium soils often produces softer wines, lower in color and acidity. By contrast, wines from the Applegate can be tougher, rich in colour and high in acid. by blending, we join strengths and offset weakness.
Tasting Notes:
Rich and structured, vibrant color and depth. This wine has been built for extended aging. Notes of black fruit combine with a core of earth, leather and game.
Aging:
Racked to barrel day after pressing. Aged in one large, 98 gallon new French Oak barrel and one 3 year old French Oak barrel. Lees stirred regularly throughout the first quarter. Barrel aged 18 months, bottled unfined and unfiltered, aged in bottle12 months before release.
